I’m a curious soul – with a wide range of nerdy and geeky interests, ranging from space exploration to theological concepts. I often find interesting items when stumbling about on the internet – and on Friday’s I like to share my findings with you!
New Favorite Library Story
I love the library. Have sense I was young….I loved riding my bike to the library, I nearly always won the Most Books Read prize during summer reading programs (I’m still bitter I didn’t win the huge Cat and the Hat in the drawing that one summer), and turning in coke bottles at the Handy Pantry to pay my nearly running tab of library fines. During college in Boliver, MO and seminary in Kansas City, I worked as a librarian; the ideal dream job for this book worm.
So – this story absolutely made my day, about an 8-year-old who wrote a book about a Christmas adventure, and then sneakily placed it on the shelves of his public library. (I wonder if I could pull that off?) I won’t spoil the outcome for you, so don’t miss this one, fellow library nerds – it is simply the very best: Dillon the Aspiring Author
Crazy Church Stories
I love a good crazy church story. Don’t get me wrong – I love the church. With all my soul. But there’s that itty bitty bit of orneriness in me that can easily dissolve into giggles or outloud snorting laughter at a good church story. Maybe it’s the lingering PK in me…or maybe it’s just because I’m still a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, which in and of itself can be crazy from time to time.
Either way – this article by the Church Leaders website is gold – 35 of the Craziest Crazy Church Stories Shared on Twitter. By the way, I could absolutely add to this list…. Enjoy: Crazy Church
Phenomenal Wildlife Photography
People who photograph wildlife are nearly as fascinating as their subjects. Never ceases to amaze me how some photographers can capture in the space of the smallest fragment of breath, a timeless and stunning photo that reminds me of God’s creativity and the wonder of the world we live in.
CNN’s Travel Website shares the images in the 2021 Shortlist for Wildlife Photographer of the Year. I don’t know who won, nor can I grasp how a judge could choose – each of these pictures are staggeringly beautiful: Wildlife Amazement
Loving the Exvangelical
I typically keep Friday Findings on the light side, but every once in a while, there is an article or a resource that is more series, that I simply can’t not share.
A friend sent me a link this article with me earlier this week – and it wrecked me. For a few different reasons, that’s not really important for this post. Suffice it to say, I’ve read the article at least 3 times this week.
Russell Moore wrote this article at Christianity Today back in October of last year – and it is well worth bookmarking and returning to time and time again, if you are in ministry of any sort – pastor, elder, Bible study teacher, worship ministry member, lay person. Church member. Moore captures a truth, a warning, a reminder here that I needed to hear. You may as well: My Dad Taught Me How to Love the Exvangelical
