I didn’t even know there was such a thing.
But I’m glad I do now. Because this is a topic that has hit our home hard, as many of you know. It’s an heinous event that has thrown our lives into utter chaos, though by God’s grace we are standing fast in the midst of the continuing (though subsiding) hurricane.
I’m so glad I found this resource page and I want to share it with you. It was Justin Holcomb. He and his wife wrote the book Rid of My Disgrace, which was a very, very difficult book to read, yet one that helped push me forward toward God. (It’s currently on sale for Kindle for only 99 cents). I recommend that it be read by everyone, even if your life has not been touched by Sexual Assault, because I can almost guarantee that someone in your life has been. And I urge all pastor’s to read this book, to gain a greater understanding of those wounded so greviously.
But this page, posted at The Resurgence, brings together many, many different resources. There are resources to help protect your child from sexual assault. There are resources on how to train your child to protect themselves. There are resources on how to care for children that have been sexual assaulted.
Please, don’t pass this opportunity by. Bookmark this page. Check out the resources. If you are a pastor, clip it to Evernote or wherever you put your resources for future use.
And be aware. Be aware of your children’s safety. Be aware of your own safety. And be compassionate towards those who have been hurt deeply.
