Friday Findings
I’m a curious soul – with a wide range of nerdy and geeky interests, ranging from space exploration to theological concepts. I often find interesting items when stumbling about on the internet – and on Friday’s I like to share my findings with you!
I’m on work travel this week, so only have time to post a few items – but they are good ones; enjoy!
A Good Guy
I’m very much looking forward to the upcoming movie “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, starring Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers.
Ahead of the movie release this weekend, many articles have been about Mr. Rogers, the TV show, the movie, and of course, Tom Hanks.
Of all the articles I’ve skimmed or read, this one by The New York Times is my favorite. It’s just an all around, good-feeling read about Mr. Hanks, who I have always admired – not only for his fantastic acting skills, but also because he collects typewriters, making him something of a nerd. If you are feeling a tad gloomy about the world, reading this should cheer you up just a bit: A Truly Nice Guy
Old Guys Telling Tales
My kid’s grandfather, Bob Duffer, is one off the greatest guys I have ever had the privilege to know. He is my ex-husband’s father….but we have remained very close. He’s a wonderful, kind, funny and talented guy.
And now, at 80 years old, he’s trying his hand at a new venture – blogging! I’m thoroughly enjoying his tales, and think you will as well – hop over to his site, sign up for notifications for new material, and take a trip down memory lane with him. You might just learn a thing or two about life! Old Guy Tales
71 Yard Field Goal??!!??
My beloved Chiefs are having a bit of tougher year than we had all hoped they would (at least, from their fan’s viewpoint) – they’ve battled injuries and lost some close games, so their win this past Monday night in Mexico City was sweet victory.
Prior to the game, though, there was a bit of excitement when their kicker, Harrison Butker, kicked a 71 Yard Field Goal during warmups!
Yeah, yeah – apparently it has to do with the thin air at this stadium that is located at an even higher altitude than Mile High Stadium in Denver. Still, it’s a lot of fun to watch, so check it out below:
How Do You Move a Library?
One book at a time! And that’s exactly 650 volunteers recently did, in Norman, Oklahoma, to help move books from the old library, to the newly built library across the park. Books are to be treasured, so it is fun to watch these volunteers lovingly pass the books hand to hand, to get them safely transported to their new home.
