It’s been a strange day–a good day, but a strange one.  I am enjoying my crew tonight and am grateful and thankful for friends and family.  Here’s tonight’s Sunday Sundries:

1.  I appreciate and admire amazing photography.  Here’s 13 Images from National Geographic’s latest photography contest.

2.  For those too chicken for real roller coasters, here’s the first “walking roller coaster” I’ve ever seen.  Seems like a great idea unless it is designed to go upside down…..

3.  I have dear friends who have having to deal with the flooding in Thailand, so I found this article about innovative ways they are dealing with the flooding fascinating.

4.  I showed these clips to my kids–they were fascinated particularly by the rotary telephone and the old camera:  11 Sounds your Kids Have Probably Never Heard

5.  I would have to say that I have a pretty serious case of arachnophobia.  I recently woke up to find a relatively tiny spider crawling across my covers and nearly fell out of bed trying to get away from it.  Even still, I found this video of this spider wrapping this bug completely fascinating—it’s amazing how God has created this animal to survive like this:

After another night of very little sleep, a day of cleaning and paying bills, and a walk on White Oak trail with my crew, we’re pretty much being slugs tonight, watching Transformers and enjoying just being together.  I love it when we can all laugh together and enjoy being a family.

The week ahead is a challenging week at work, with a couple of painful health procedures planned as well.  I’m praying for real sleep tonight soon.

Here’s tonight’s Sunday Sundries:

1.I love to snorkel and would love to learn how to scuba some day.  Here’s some fantastic undersea photography that shows off the beautiful animal located in the world’s oceans.

2.  Together for Adoption Conference was held this weekend–the reports coming from that conference were exciting to hear.  As a result, I’d like to share two websites here that are helping orphans around the world.  Chick’s 4 Orphans is seeking to help the orphans of Zambia by providing sustainable poultry farming projects that will both sustain and feed orphans.

Funky-Fish Jewelry designs some gorgeous pieces of jewelry with the proceeds going to help support adoption an care of orphans in Africa.  I’m not much of a jewelry person, but some day I’d love to have their pendant with the African Continent stamped on it–beautiful and meaningful.

3.  This skit about an invisible drum kit made me chuckle.  I hope you enjoy it as well:

1. I’m a huge fan of Apple products.  I have an iPhone and a Mac book pro.  This week in honor of the passing of Steve Jobs as well as the introduction of the world to the new iPhone S, I share this cartoon from The Oatmeal—-so funny!
