Friday Findings
I’m a curious soul – with a wide range of nerdy and geeky interests, ranging from space exploration to theological concepts. I often find interesting items when stumbling about on the internet – and on Friday’s I like to share my findings with you!
Giant Books
Bookshelf murals always fascinate me, so I was happy to stumble across the website, featuring several murals from around the world. I’d love to be able to plan a trip to go see each and every one of them in person. Check out the list here: Conglomerate of Big Books
And then, if you want to see a fairly new one in great detail, visit OpenCulture who recently featured a mural painted by Dutch artists: More Book Books
Hear Tolkien Recite
I’m really excited for the upcoming Tolkien movie – I hope that it is as well done as it deserves to be! In anticipation of viewing that film, I enjoyed stopping by YouTube to listen to a recording of Tolkien read from “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers”. Enjoy!
Actual Size of Countries – Mind. Blown.
So, I confess – I have not dug much into this; to confirm if this is true. And, then again…maybe everyone in the world knows it is true except me. But this article over at Open Culture made my head spin. It’s all about how disproportionate our traditional maps are, and how much smaller some countries are, than they appear to be on a map – and why. They have some pretty cool animated maps to demonstrate the off-ness. I’ll never look at Greenland quite the same way again. Potato Living
I’ve been researching some AirBnB options for a 2020 trip to Hawaii – we are planning to take our entire crew there for a couple of weeks, to celebrate their grandparent’s 80th birthday. In doing so, I Googled “Odd AirBnB”, out of curiosity, and this is what I came up with: A Potato. I’ve not added staying in this spud to our “Travel Bucket List”, cause – why not?
