Friday Findings
I’m a curious soul – with a wide range of nerdy and geeky interests, ranging from space exploration to theological concepts. I often find interesting items when stumbling about on the internet – and on Friday’s I like to share my findings with you!
Peachy!
My crew are all young adults now – but they still LOVE Mario Kart. It’s one of the things that they enjoyed playing together while growing up, and – every once in a while – they will all jump on the game and take Mario and his buddies for a lap around the racetrack.
My oldest son recently moved to Japan (military), so this article caught my eyes. The world’s first Super Nintendo World Theme Park is being built in Tokyo, and is slated to open before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Best of all – it will feature a real Mario Kart course!
We hope to visit my boy in 2021; and this will definitely be on our list of “things to do”! Click here, for more information: Power-Up!
Spooky President’s Heads
When we first moved to Virginia, I noticed a park between Busch Gardens Amusement Park and Water Country Waterpark – it was a strange sight, because the park contained these ginormous President’s Heads. As in….all the Presidents. I thought we might check it out…more out of curiosity than anything else…but the price to walk around and see these statues was nearly $30 a person. Nope.
The park didn’t last; it closed pretty quickly…but that left, well, all those Presidents just sitting there. As time went on, they started to deteriorate as no one was around to care for them.
Then, one day – they were gone.
I often wondered what happened to them, and now I know, after stumbling upon this article at Lonely Planet. Best news is, they are still not very far from where I live, and a photographer is created a photoshoot tour of them at night. Ok, ok, so it’s more expensive than had we bought tickets to see them when they were in their original home, but how cool will it be, to see them in their creepy, decripit state at night, plus learn from a photographer how to best capture cool images of them? Library Loveliness
No surprise here; I love libraries; so, of course, this article caught my attention. Even if you are not a book loving individual, I think you will enjoy checking out these fantastic libraries from around the world. I’d love to embark on a world tour, just to visit each of these (and rack up library fines, probably): Where to Find Books
I Love Checklists
Pretty much all day, every day…my life is ruled by checklists. I enjoyed this article over at Trello, which kinda takes a glance at the reasoning why checklists help us increase productivity and push us to be more goal-oriented: Check Check Check
Notion
And, while we are on the subject of productivity – check out Notion. I’ve pretty much moved all of my checklists/task tracking/scheduling/project management into Notion, and so far – love it. The functionality and robustness is top-notch; plus it appears they are actively and continuing engaged in agile development. Check (see what I did there?) it out here: Notion
