I often file away interesting tidbits that I come across while meandering (um, wasting time) on the internet. Here are a few things I’ve come across lately, that I’ve found interesting or helpful.
Fly to Mars
As per usual, while scrolling through the interwebz, I landed on news of outer space.
I’ll never be an astronaut–I think I would have liked to have been one–but I suppose that ship has sailed. But I LOVE this from NASA–I can now “virtually” travel to Mars–and you can, too! Visit the NASA Mars website, and you can submit your name to be taken to Mars aboard the space ship “Insight”–which launches in May of 2018. Below is a picture of my Boarding Pass–and you can sign up for yours here: Ticket to Mars
Steinway & Sons: Piano Love
So…I guess I will never be an astronaut, and I’ll also never be a piano virtuoso–but I still love the idea. And I appreciate deeply the beauty of a grand piano. CNN featured a fascinating video project, showing what exactly goes into the creation a Steinway and Sons Piano–an entire year of attention to detail, craftsmanship, and a deep love for beautiful music. Take a few minutes to watch a bit of this video, and enjoy: Ivory Keys
A Wave that is More than a Wave
My soul. I challenge you to watch the video below and not be moved. Out of my home state of Iowa, comes a new tradition, during the Iowa Hawkeye home football games. At the end of the first quarter, is comes a few brief moments that transcend whatever is happening on that field in that moment. Score doesn’t matter. What matters is the message that is sent to dozens of children in the hospital tower, right next to the stadium, from the thousands in the stands. Watch. You won’t regret it. The Hawkeye Wave
