On Scripture:
I have really enjoyed John Piper’s “Look at the Book” series. I found this lab on Romans 8:5-6 particularly challenging.
On Books:
Church Times, an Anglican newspaper/website, recently released a list they titled “The 100 Best Christian Books“. I particularly liked reading how they debated in order to come up with their list. I’ve only read 12 out of the 100. I’d like to make it a goal to read all 100, eventually.
Because I am currently reading War and Peace, this caught my eye: A list of book suggestions for all ages, compiled by Tolstoy. I love that he labeled them as being either “Great”, “Very Great” or “Enormous”. You can find his list HERE.
On Iowa:
I grew up in Fairfield, Iowa. It was a very unique place to be raised in. For many, many reasons. I found this article by Willy Blackmore to be quite interesting about the experience. I was a “townie”. He was a “roo”. Neither of those are flattering or correct terms. To find out what I mean, you can sample his writing piece “Growing Up in Utopia“.
On Cooking:
Anyone who knows me at all, knows I am not a cook. Not only do I not enjoy cooking, but I’m terrible at it. However, there are just some things that I love, love, love to eat that have to be made. One of those is banana pudding. Below is what I put into banana pudding. There are no instructions, though, because I seriously just make the pudding and then dump the whole mess into a bowl and stir it up, then put crushed Nilla Wafers on top. Nom.
1 8 oz cream cheese
1 carton sour cream
8 oz cool whip
1 tsp vanilla
1 box wafers
5 c milk
3 small banana boxes of pudding
