When I first picked up this book, I thought it would be one of those “self-help” or “how-to” books that I despise so much. How thankful I am that I was wrong.
Barry Danylak has written a very thought-provoking book based entirely on scripture, about experience of being single. I was disappointed that it didn’t speak much (or any, as I recall) about divorce people. Nonetheless, I found his focus on Covenant was particularly strong. Also, as you might imagine, he advocates for singles to view their situation as a gift, a “charisma” from God, in order to serve God in ways that would not be possible if one were to be married and have children.
Again, I’m not sure of it’s applicability to myself and my four children, but I learned a tremendous amount about Old Testament and New Testament Covenants. Danylak strongly employs scripture in it’s context both literally and historically, to make his case. It is a strong case for those who have never been married, but still has a tremendous amount of potential help for those who are divorced or widowed.
